It looks like the warm weather is upon us, and soon that means enjoying the outdoors with family and friends. But before you think about relaxing, here are some top tips for enjoying your home in the summer.
1. Fix cracks in your driveway
Fixing cracks in your asphalt or concrete driveway is a relatively easy DIY project. There are many products available for quick patch repairs that are simple to apply.
2. Reseal your driveway
Asphalt driveways don’t last forever, but you can extend the lifespan with regular maintenance and applying a sealant. Asphalt driveways are susceptible to cracks due to the expansion and contraction of water with fluctuations in temperatures. Typically, asphalt sealants are oil-based but there are some great latex-based, low VOC products available too. It takes a couple of hours to prep and install and 24 hours in warm weather to cure. It is an easy and cost-effective way to extend the life of your driveway and only needs to be done every few years.
3. Clean and organize the garage
As the weather warms up and restrictions ease, let's make sure your garage is clean and organized to do all those activities and projects.
Make sure your garage door is functioning correctly, and if it appears to be getting stuck or makes noises get it serviced by a professional. It probably just needs some lubricant on the tracks to fix it but make sure you use the proper lubricant or oil suggested by the manufacturer. Thousands of people get injured by faulty garage doors, every year so please be careful and if you have concerns, always call a professional.
